New Year's Resolutions

Well it’s the beginning of a new year.  Another year has come and gone and a new one is beginning.  It’s the time of the year where we reflect on the year past and look graciously towards the new one that we are embarking on.  It’s the time of the year where most people begin to invent “New Year’s Resolutions” for themselves.

As Christians, we too should have New Year’s Resolutions.  We should strive to become better Christians this year than we were last.  We always have room to grow in knowledge of the Lord.  But, our desire to grow in knowledge of God’s word shouldn’t be hindered to just New Year’s.  It should, however, be something that we strive for every day.

A scripture that I found to be most encouraging for me concerning this thought was Col 3:16-17.  As you ponder on these thoughts and the New Year that is set before us, think on this scripture.  “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”
