Our Godly Mothers

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her (Proverbs 31:10, 27-28).

We praise God for the oldest institution created by Him, marriage (Gen 2).  The family was divinely created and still to this day is the only model that works sucessfully for the family and that is recoginized by God.  Most all have fond memories of life at home and especially how our mothers sacrificed and existed to serve their family.  Happy families functioned smoothly when God's model was respected and adhered to.

God's institution of marriage was far more than a spousal agreement.  It is a vow between God Himself, the man and woman for life.  This was his building block or foundation for order.  This marriage was created or instituted in only one form, God's form.  God's plan for the family was put in place in the very beginning and this order reverberates through all his creation.

The institution of marriage is the first step to a Godly family.  Children are brought into this world through this institution and further complete the family.  The virtuous woman is worth far more than rubies even without children but the children define her as a mother.  The man and woman are to fill their roles in the family for life and this order is carried on to the church and up through to our very creator.  But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God (1 Cor. 11:3)

She shall be praised for her reputation which results from her fear of God.  Her fear and respect for God's commands drive her to create and maintain her family as God has given command.  She chooses her words wisely and her tongue is the law of kindness.  She sees to the provision of her husband and children.  This obedience to God first and her family second makes her known to the world around her, just as her husband.

We see the motherly example of Mary with Christ and it encourages us.  Joseph disappears early on in scripture during Christ's life and we can only speculate about why.  However, we see the support His mother continued to give Him throughout His life and even through the crucifixion.  She was present at His first miracle and ultimately present at His crucifixion.  She, no doubt, was a great force in Christ's life as was Timothy's mother in his life.

Thank God for all the Godly mothers and their sacrifice for the family.  They taught us God's order and exclusively respected it.  This world is lost trying to find happy families again.  Man has tried redefining marriage, family and their individual roles.  Society resists God's family model and discards it as out dated and bigoted.  As they fail in an attempt to create their own form of family, let us remember and stand firm for the family as God commanded it.  One man loving his wife in submission to Christ; one woman loving her husband in submission to man; and, children in submission to their parents.  All family participants staying active and busy about the heavenly Father's business as Christ gave us example.  This is the true, tested and tried receipe for a happy family that has been given to us by our divine Creator.

            Thank you Godly Mothers!
