And all that is within me,
bless His holy name.

And forget none of His benefits.

Our Great And Almighty God

In the first 6 verses of Deuteronomy chapter 4 the assembly of Israel, each and every individual, was exhorted and encouraged to listen and perform what statutes and judgments were given them from the LORD GOD. The LORD GOD then proceeds to bring to their remembrance what had transpired at Shittim when the children of Israel played the harlot against the LORD GOD. As you recall the people sacrificed to the gods of Moab and bowed down to them in worship. GOD became very angry as the people turned from Him and joined themselves to Baal of Peor. But we must remember that GOD is just and His wrath was very fierce and that there are consequences to deliberate and willful sin. GOD's hot displeasure so was great that He commanded the leaders of the people to be executed by the judges of Israel. When all was said and done 24,000 people lost their lives in the plague that day.

Moses further declares the LORD GOD as their sustainer in verse 4- "But you who held fast to the LORD your God are alive today every one of you" (NASB). And then Moses makes this declaration in verse 7- "For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as is the LORD our GOD whenever we call on Him?" (NASB). How blessed Israel was to have such a Great and Almighty GOD who was so nigh to them that all it took was a simple calling upon His name for them to be heard. No matter what the persecution, the distress, the travesty, the sorrow or the distraught spirit- the LORD GOD was ever present to hear their cry and plea.

Such greatness is above all things in this world in having a GOD so near to us. To think that the Creator of all things can be so nigh to us and hear our call upon Him is revealing to us just how blessed we are. Just by a simple prayer or supplication we can have the attention and ear of our Great and Almighty GOD. How great we can be above all things through obedience to His commands and statutes and exercise our privilege to call upon Him.

Such greatness should lead us to praise His Holy Name and worship Him as the only True God of which He is. How great was Peter when prayer was made on his behalf to be released from prison as the Angel of GOD walked him through the prison gates. How great was Paul and Silas when in chains they prayed and the LORD GOD broke those shackles from their feet and opened the prison doors. How blessed and great we are above all mankind to have the LORD GOD so nigh to us.

The question that is now before us is have we obeyed from the heart the commandments which the LORD GOD has outlined for us in order to have that blessed relationship in which He is nigh to us as His dear children. GOD the Father sent the Messiah into the world in order to make salvation available to all mankind. Jesus was proven by signs, wonders and miracles that he was the Messiah along with the fulfillment of those thing spoken concerning the Messiah. GOD the Father also proved Jesus as the Messiah by raising Him from the grave to be resurrected to sit at the Father's right hand. This is the good news of salvation and this is the gospel that is preached unto you today.
