Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And all that is within me,
bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits.

Beautiful Places Pt 2

In continuing this thought of Beautiful Places that was touched on in March, we will now shift our focus onto God’s furtherance of his blessings.  As was already mentioned, God is truly a loving God and blesses us in excess of our needs.  The biggest blessing for us, as Christians, is the thought of eternal existence with him in Heaven.

In Genesis 1:1, the Bible tells us, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”  And in Isaiah 65:17 we read, “Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.”  We see in just those two scriptures that God has prepared bigger and better things for us.

Heaven is prepared for us by a just and loving God.  As mortal men, we can never truly appreciate and understand how amazing Heaven will be.  The inspired writers try to explain to us through the scriptures, but we can never truly imagine the joys of Heaven.  One blessing that we can look forward to is that Jesus will be there with us.  John 14:2-3 tells us, “My father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

In Heaven we are also told of the comfort that we will receive.  Revelation 21:4-5 says, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes.  There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.  He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’  Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

In Heaven we will also enjoy the presence of our God and Father.  Revelation 22:5 tells us, “There will be no more night.  They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light.  And they will reign for ever and ever.”

These are just a few of my personal exciting expectations that I have for Heaven.  I take pleasure in knowing that there will be no more pain, tears, darkness, death and that the Father and Son will be there with us and we will bask in their presence.  God is truly a loving God and his love knows no bounds as long as we are willing to obey his word.  As this two part series has touched on “beautiful places,” I can think of no better place than Heaven to finish.  I hope that these thoughts have been as encouraging for you as they were for me to study.
