Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And all that is within me,
bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits.

A Thought Provoking Question

I was listening to one of my Jerry Clower CD’s the other day, and I heard a story he told that really made me stop and think.  Mr. Clower was telling a story of when he was in college and was walking across campus one day when he saw a great big sign.  The sign read, “Where will you be when you get where you’re going?”  Now Mr. Clower goes on to tell a funny story, but that comment made me think about Heaven and where I would be when I get where I’m going.

2 Pet. 1:5-11 tells us all the virtuous aspects to make sure that we are fruitful in the knowledge of the Lord.  Verses 10 and 11 tell us what to do to make our calling and election sure, “Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

Revelation 2:10 tells us, “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer.  Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days.  Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”  These verses show us that if we do what God says, then we won’t have to question or wonder about where our eternal destination will be.

This is God’s promise to us, that if we are willing to obey his word and become his child, and live a faithful life until death, then we can be assured that we’ll know just where we’ll be when we get where we’re going.
