And all that is within me,

And forget none of His benefits.

The Example Of Joshua

There are many verses in the Bible that I find encouraging as a Christian.  There’s no better feeling than to recall a passage in your mind to provide comfort and encouragement when encountering situations in life that are a stumbling block to us.  It provides us, as Christians, with the safety and protection from this life that assures us that this is not the end for us and that God has provided us a way.  However, there’s one verse in particular that I wish to share with you that has always provided me with encouragement.  Joshua 24:15 says, “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Given the path that our society has taken over the last several years, it’s become obvious that the Christian way of life and mindset is under attack.  Society tells us that our way of thinking and our faith is wrong.  Things that were always looked upon as evil and wrong have become the norm now, and if you dare speak out against these matters, you have now become wrong.  However, no matter how bad the world gets, no matter how much pressure we receive from the world, always remember that there have always been examples for us such as Joshua.  Several brave men and women who were willing to stand up for their faith, no matter the odds or the consequences and say, “…as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

These are just a few of my thoughts that I wished to share with you.  I hope that you have found them encouraging and helpful.
