Let Your Light Shine

It’s no secret that it’s difficult for Christians in today’s society.  The world would like us to believe that what once was evil is now good, and what was good is now evil.  We are pressured to acknowledge and accept evils as if God hadn’t strictly told us in his scriptures to not.  But the Bible is clear on these matters as is God.

In this bulletin, I would like to encourage us all to not lose sight of the fact that, as Christians, we are God’s children.  He expects us to stand firm in our beliefs and to “hold the line” with his word.

Matthew 5:14-16 tells us, “(14) Ye are the light of the world.  A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.  (15) Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.  (16) Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

These verses encourage me to produce light.  In a world that seems so full of darkness, let us shine bright with God’s light.  And when we feel as if we are outnumbered by the darkness, remember what John tells us.  John 1:1-5 says, “(1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) The same was in the beginning with God. (3) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (4) In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (5) And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehend it not.”
