Worth Dying

            “keep ‘thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools. For they consider not that they do evil. Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter anything before God. For God is in heaven, and thou upon earth. Therefore let thy words be few”. Eccl.5:1, 2.

            Words are used as vehicles upon which thought travels. When you or I desire to put a thought in the mind of another, we use words. The scriptures serve that very purpose. They reveal to the mind those things which our God desires for us to know. In Duet. 29:29, the scriptures tell us, “the secret things belong to God. But the things that are written or revealed belong unto us and to our children forever that we may do all the words that are written”.

            Under the law of Christ, the apostle Paul told the Christians in Ephesus, “ for this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles, if ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward. How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; as I wrote afore in few words.

          Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ. Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit”. Eph. 3:1-5.

            These words that reveal to us the mind of God have come to us as a result of much affliction by those who wrote them. Christians, such as Priscilla and Aquila who, as Paul says, “for my life laid down their own necks”. Romans 16:3, 4. I Thes. 2:1, 2, “for yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that is was not in vain. But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention”.

            So asked yourself a question, “what information are there in the Scriptures that is worth dying for”? Remember the words of Paul in Romans 8:36, “even as it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long. We were counted as sheep for the slaughter”.
