ISN’T IT REASONABLE?

ISN’T IT REASONABLE?

Romans 1:1 says, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God,  which is your reasonable service.”  Paul's instruction to us here is very clear, our whole mind, body,  and spirit must be used in such a way that serves the divine will of God.  As Christians we are given much instruction about our duties toward mankind.  We are told how we must be prepared to teach the gospel, to serve the physical and spiritual  needs of those who need it.  We are told very clearly in God’s word of our responsibility toward authorities, our duties toward our families, our brothers and sisters in Christ, and most importantly our responsibility to our Creator.  It may, perhaps, appear to be a tremendous responsibility and an inconceivable thought to those who do not understand God’s love for mankind, but for those who have come to know God and understand all that He has done and continues to do for man, the idea of fully sacrificing our selves to do His will is absolutely reasonable.

In Genesis 1 we read that it was God that created the world and everything in it, the same world we enjoy today.   We also read in Genesis that God created man and woman and established the family.  These two thoughts alone should cause anyone to consider the importance of serving God.  He is our Creator and sustains the world in which we live and provides all the physical necessities essential for life.

But that’s certainly not all God did for mankind.  We know from verses like Isaiah 59:2 that sin separates us from God and that He will not tolerate sin.  Romans 3:23 tells us that all of us our sinners.  Therefore,  God, because of His love for us had a plan, even before the world began, had a plan to save mankind from sin give us all the hope of eternal life in heaven.  John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. “  God Sent His Son to die for us and gave us instructions on our responsibility to fully obey and serve Him. The list of all that God has done for us goes on and on, these are just a few things to consider.  Serving God is our responsibility and is and leads to a life of happiness, contentment, and confidence that no matter what happens we can fully trust that God is control.  It’s an awesome relationship and it requires sacrificing ourselves fully to God, but considering all that He has done for us it is absolutely beyond reasonable.
