AccessStrong’s defines word meaning admission, to lead towards, to conduct near, summon, and present, to approach, bring, and draw near.
Vine’s defines word to mean a leading or bringing into the presence, to lead, denotes access with which is associated the thought of freedom to enter through the assistance or favor of another.
1. Romans 5:1, 2, Paul tells us in this verse we have “being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God”. Only through Christ was access to grace made possible and to the Father. Grace here meaning favor and acceptance by the Father. John 14:6, Christ says, “I am the way”.
2. Ephesians 2:18,” for through Him we have access in one Spirit through Christ, unto the Father, both Jew and Gentile”. This promise was made possible through Christ death. Ephesians 2:16, “that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby”. Romans 8:27 tells us that the “Holy Spirit makes intersessions (plead, to make petition) for the saints according to the will of God”. By the HS in heaven, our prayers find acceptance with our Father.
3. Ephesians 3:12,” in whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of Him”. Paul tells us we have access “with confidence through faith in Him, Christ”. The access requires our faith in Christ to have acceptance by the Father, and the privilege of the Father’s favor toward us. “We have boldness”. Vines states it is to speak without fear. Paul said in II Corinthians 7:4, “great is my boldness of speech toward you”.
Today we have access to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit made possible by Christ death on the cross.
